Learn More About Chain Letters

When I was young I got my fair share of chain letters. I didn’t know any better, and I was scared to death that if I did follow through then something bad would happen to me or to someone that I love. Though I know better now, I still don’t like to get them. Chain letters used to come through the postal service, but with today’s technologies most of them now come via email. I don’t care how they come. If someone sends me one of them I get really upset. There is something to be said for putting negative ideas out in the universe and I don’t like them being directed in my direction.

Many of the chain letters you get today say that if you don’t forward them to a certain number of people in a certain amount of time something bad will happen. The chain letters are all different, but they are also very much the same. You will have bad luck for seven years, someone you love will get sick, you will lose your job, or your cat will run off and join the circus. If you are smart enough to forward them though, any amount of amazing things can happen to you.

Some of the chain letters I have gotten in the past offer something pretty amazing. Did you know that if you forward that email from Bill Gates you can make thousands? He’s testing his email tracking system, and you are going to get rich by clicking a few buttons. Who could pass that up right? I have also gotten chain letters that promise something really great is going to pop up on my computer screen after I forward it to ten people. It’s sad really that so many people are still passing these around.

I have asked those who were sending me chain letters to stop doing so. It’s almost like a threat and I don’t like it. I know nothing bad, or good for that matter, is going to happen because I did or did not forward an email, but there is still a negative energy associated with it. I don’t want that anywhere near me. Most of them have listened, thankfully, and though I thought many would be upset with me, they seem to understand. Now if I could just get them to stop sending the ‘if you are my friend you’ll send this back’ chain letters, life will be good again.
