Here's The Best Cheap External Hard Drives

Getting a cheap external hard drive is almost necessary for the modern computer user. After all, making sure that you have plenty of storage space is really important. You never know when your internal hard drive is going to crash, and cheap external hard drives are the best way to protect all of your data. It is true that you can use a flash drive, and many people prefer to. Nonetheless, there are plenty of problems with flash drives. One of them is that flash drives do not carry as much data as cheap external hard drives. And although flash drives are less expensive than buying a new hard drive in general, the difference in price is not that significant. You can get external hard drives cheap nowadays. Basically, gigabyte for gigabyte, you get more storage with a new external hard drive.

I used to store all of my data on a flash drive. I thought it was the way to go. You see, I was an on the go kind of guy. I was always traveling from one place to another, and I needed to know that my data was always available. Unfortunately, I did not keep another backup copy of it on a cheap external hard drive. I had the cheapest external hard drive that I could find still sitting in a box on the floor. I had plenty of space to back up all of my information, but I still neglected to make the backups that I needed.  Unfortunately, I lost my flash drive. I could not find it, and I neglected to make a backup for a few months. Then my hard drive crashed. I lost almost everything.

Since then, I have always kept cheap external hard drives handy. I mostly use them for backup, but this is not the only thing that they are good for. As long as you're not worried about losing data, you can keep it on your cheap external hard drives and off of your internal drive. You only need to have two copies of something that you could not live without. This is  probably the best way to maximize the amount of storage space that you have.

One of the great things about cheap external hard drives is that you can take them around with you. I have learned from my mistakes with the flash drive, so I tend to leave mine at home most of the time. Nevertheless, it is good to know that it is portable in case I ever need to bring it anywhere.
